Pinterest – why is it so popular

If you haven’t heard of Pinterest, you are probably like everyone else, however, this site has been taking the online world by storm. It could be summed up as an image bookmarking site, that lets you organize and share those bookmarks. The site permits only images, in other words, you cannot bookmark just links.
The site is mainly popular with women, who like to share decorating ideas, outfits, cosmetics and so on. It was started by Ben Silbermann (is it always some jewish guy?) and has received strong venture capital backing. Currently, it’s only available via invitation.
